This eatery outlet sells the morning only dishes of either Nasi Berlauk or Nasi Dagang with either tuna fish or chicken. The main ingredient is the curry which is used for both Nasi Berlauk and Nasi Dagang. One cannot eat the dishes at this outlet since it does not cater for eat-in patrons.
Nasi Dagang is a Malaysian and Southern Thai dish consisting of rice steamed in coconut milk, fish curry and extra ingredients such as fried grated coconut, hard-boiled eggs and vegetable pickles. Nasi Dagang literally means “Trading Rice”. It is a well-known breakfast food in the states on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, such as Terengganu and Kelantan and Southern Thailand territory of Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat. Nasi Dagang can also be considered as a festive dish in Kelantan and Terengganu because it is prepared at home for the morning of Eid ul-Fitr, a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, to be eaten as a breakfast before or after the Eid prayers in the mosque. Nasi Berlauk is rice served with fish or chicken and vegetables cooked with turmeric and galangal infused yellow gravy.(Wikipedia)
This outlet is located next to Riverside Angler Enterprise, Kampung Cina..on the way to Pantai Cahaya Bulan just before the roundabout adjacent to Cik Minah Songket.
The Pulut with grated coconut is also worth a try…however the best pulut can be found at Pasar Kubang Pasu.
TRUST ME BOTH DISHES ARE AUTHENTICALLY KELANTANESE AND ARE THE BEST IN THE WORLD. THERE ARE MANY ‘BRANDED NASI BERLAUK & DAGANG’ IN KOTA BHARU. SOME ARE AIRFLOWN AND CAN BE FOUND IN KUALA LUMPUR THE SAME MORNING…BUT NONE CAN CHALLENGE THIS OUTLET’S DISHES.
OUR VERDICT (6 STAR MAXIMUM)
FOOD : OVERALL 6 STAR (BOTH NASI BERLAUK & DAGANG BEST IN THE WORLD IN THEIR CATEGORIES)
AMBIENCE : 3 STAR
COMMENTS : PARKING IS AMPLE
PRICE : VERY REASONABLE
