ENTRANCE TO EATERY STALLS
THREE BLIND PERSON BAND
This live band is present almost everyday.
There are more than twenty food stalls in this eatery centre. The food her is generally cheap and good. Here I showcase my favourite stalls….all are must-tries.
This Kuih stall also sell a few varieties of nasi lemak, another Malaysian favourites.
ROTI CANAI STALL
CAPATI & TOSAI STALLS
WORLD’S BEST SERABAI STORE
This Astaka is famous for the Serabai (a type of pancake made using rice flour, coconut milk and yeast). It has been around since I first settle Penang in 1982…only then the parents of this present lady were doing the business. One thing for sure…the taste is still the same some thirty years on. This is definitely the best tasting serabai in the world.
DRINK’S STALL : TEH TARIK IS THE WORLD’S BEST
Teh tarik comprised of black tea, sugar, and condensed milk mixed to a frothy perfection. Teh tarik is originally created by Malaysians. The tarik comes from the action of pulling up one can of tea and pouring into another can repeatedly. Bubbles will be created and the tea will still be hot but not too hot to drink. The the tarik from this stall tastes perfect…something difficult to explain in words…just enough tea and milk combination.
WORLD ‘S BEST BREAKFAST PACKAGE
NIK ENJOYING BREAKFAST
This is my best breakfast package…both are world’s best. If you live anywhere in the northern parts of Malaysia this is a definite must try breakfast package. I can assure, you won’t be disappointed.
SHAM: Occasionally I’d go to this place just for the Serabai. I used to buy Nasi Lemuni from one of the stalls, but am not sure if it’s still available. For a heavier breakfast or brunch, there is a noodle stall. On weekends or public holidays, the place is normally crowded.
OUR VERDICT (6 STAR MAXIMUM)
FOOD : OVERALL 3-5 STAR/ SERABAI & TEH TARIK BOTH 6 STAR & WORLD’S BEST
AMBIENCE : 3 STAR
COMMENTS : PARKING IS NOT TOO BAD.
PRICE : GENERALLY VERY REASONABLE
